Solitaire Technicians Excel.
In 2005, 470 technicians from Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand registered for, and competed in, the Volkswagen Auto Techniker Program. The competition began locally with each country choosing their top two technicians to attend the grand final.

Having scored well in three theory tests, Michael Squires from Solitaire Automotive earned a place in the Australian Final for the 2005 Volkswagen Auto Techniker Competition in Sydney. The Final Test took the top six technicians from around Australia through three practical diagnostic exercises that tested their skills and Volkswagen knowledge. Michael finished second and earned the right to be one of two technicians representing Australia in Hong Kong against six other countries.
After a gruelling two day program, Michael emerged in second place, just behind the Thai winner.
Michael has worked with Solitaire Automotive and Volkswagen for several years at both the Medindie and Hawthorn sites. Currently at Medindie, Michael’s experience and knowledge is an inspiration to the team.
